Our ambidextrous Palm Protectors are suitable for all hand sizes, using adjustable Velcro straps that can be tightened or loosened as necessary.
Palm Protectors can offer relief from curling fingers, hand contractures and cramping. The Palm Protector is put on over the thumb and around the hand, providing a cushioning pad for the fingers to curl onto, preventing the nails from digging into the palms, whilst also keeping the fingers warm and supported.
All Shear Comfort products are machine washable, and guaranteed against deterioration for up to 50 washes.

Superior Pressure Redistribution
Shear comfort XD1900 is a fabric-backed medical sheepskin, unique to Shear Comfort. XD1900 has a fibre density higher than even the very best natural sheepskins - which gives it superior pressure redistribution properties. This is achieved by weaving natural wool to a fabric backing, and is not to be confused with artificial sheepskins created from synthetic ‘wool.’
Moisture Reduction
Moisture build up next to the skin can lead to maceration of the skin at the surface, affecting the properties of the skin. Wool is hydrophilic, meaning that it takes up or wicks away moisture from the skin. Wool can hold up to a third of its weight of water vapour before ‘feeling’ wet, and therefore helps to protect against maceration, and leads to greater comfort.
Friction and Shear Reduction
The outermost layer of protein on a fibre of wool makes it very smooth – making it easy for the fibres to move against each another and accommodate movement. This means that your skin moves across the surface with less resistance, keeping the shear and friction forces to a minimum. These forces can be a contributing factor towards a feeling of discomfort when seated or lying down.
