Dynamic Arm Support
The clinically developed, anatomically correct Dynamic Arm Support (DAS) from Bodypoint provides an option for intervention for the upper extremities following injury or neurological events. The DAS can be utilised immediately after injury for optimal clinical outcomes, offering preventive measures against the development of potential harm.
• The “Missing Seating Intervention”
• Prevent shoulder subluxation and pain
• Anatomically correct design
Dynamic Movement
The pivot mechanism positioned under the elbow pad allows 60° of rotation, stimulating proprioception and increasing strength and range of motion. The position can also be locked in steps of 5° to find the ideal resting position for the user.
Indications for use
• Contracture prevention and management
• Reduction of shoulder pain
• Mitigate impact of abnormal upper extremity tone
• Strength and proprioceptive training of the upper extremity
• Prevent and minimise shoulder subluxation
• Minimise injury to the upper extremity
The DAS upper extremity support is appropriate for the management of hypertonicity, resistance to passive movement, shoulder pain, and shoulder subluxation involving neurological involvement of the upper extremities arising from:
• Stroke (CVA)
• Brachial plexus injury
Other progressive or traumatic neurological impacts on the
upper extremity as may be seen in diagnoses such as:
• Spinal cord injury (SCI)
• Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
• Muscular dystrophies
• Multiple sclerosis
• Parkinson’s
Benefits
• Support of the entire upper extremity for optimal results
• Customisable ‘off the shelf’ solution makes it easily configurable and adjustable
• Greatly reduces strain and provides proprioceptive input to the shoulder
• Allows for progressive positioning
• Facilitates a functional position of the hand, and tone reduction
